Compared to its predecessor, its self-noise is very low, making it one of the quietest microphones in its class. The microphone also has improved sensitivity and a higher SPL. The -10 dB and -20 dB pad switches provide a larger dynamic range, making the microphone suitable for a wide range of applications and close-mic techniques, even for the loudest instruments such as electric guitars, fortissimo brass, and kick drums. The low-cut filter can be switched to 80Hz or 160Hz; both filters eliminate low-frequency rumble and compensate for the proximity effect during close-mic techniques.
