Until the outstanding success of the 'Enigma' Variations in 1899, he was considered a 'provincial' composer - and a largely self taught one at that.In the earlier part of Elgar's career as a composer, he wrote several short pieces which became very popular indeed. Chanson de Matin is one such, the second of a pair (the other being Chanson de Nuit), which carried his name far and wide before his larger orchestra works appeared. It was published in several versions at once: for string orchestra, for small orchestra, for violin and piano and so on - so it is almost impossible to say, with any degree of certainty, which was the original version. This arrangement makes a useful addition to the repertoire for oboe.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Fentone Music","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53349599510795,"sku":"HAS-F 322-401","price":16.99,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0760\/6327\/7323\/files\/HAS-F-322-401-1.jpg?v=1788904627","url":"https:\/\/dbmusicstore.com\/products\/edward-elgar-chanson-de-matin-op-15-no-3","provider":"Dbmusicstore Utrecht","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
