The cardioid characteristic cuts out ambient sound from the side and rear. Crosstalk from other signals is reduced. A switchable high-pass filter reduces the proximity effect (overemphasis of the bass range). This can also be used to remove low-frequency noise.
The special suspension of the gold-plated diaphragm effectively prevents the transmission of mechanical vibrations such as impact noise or grip noise.
