Rockstar by Thierry Deleruyelle is a powerful and immediately appealing work for concert band, placing the energy of rock music at its core. A constant pulse, sharp rhythmic accents, and clear dynamic contrasts create an exhilarating atmosphere reminiscent of a live concert filled with lights, drive, and tension.
Each of the different orchestral sections is given a clear role within the musical whole. Melodic lines, accompaniment figures, and solid harmonic blocks alternate, keeping the work transparent while exuding a lot of collective energy. The rhythmic motoric demands tight ensemble playing and convincing collective phrasing.
