Matthias van Nispen tot Pannerden: Cambrinus (Concert Band Score). The name Cambrinus, a corruption of Jan Primus, refers to the flamboyant John I of Brabant, who was Duke of Brabant and Limburg in the second half of the 13th century. This piece of music tells the story of this remarkable man, starting with the Battle of Worringen in 1288, where he achieved a glorious victory, followed by a lavish feast, but also a moment of contemplation in which he reflects on the suffering he and his men caused. The work includes energetic musical scenes with lots of action, as well as beautiful romantic and heroic themes that offer your orchestra ample opportunity to shine.
