Two basic ideas form the foundation of this concert work, written for the Harmonie Concorde from Sanem in Luxembourg. The first is the town's socio-economic context: for decades, the mining industry attracted people from various countries, particularly Portugal. This is illustrated by the inclusion of an authentic folk song from that country. The second pillar is the European ideal, which is clearly present in Luxembourg. This is expressed musically through dynamic themes and snippets from Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Charpentier's Te Deum – the theme tune for Eurovision broadcasts. Concordia, a work that brings together various elements, stands as a symbol of unity.
