What Hurts the Most is a song written by American songwriters Jeffrey Steele and Steve Robson. The song is about a broken relationship, and the chorus explains what the most painful part of it is: the fact that the narrator was unable to express his or her feelings before the relationship ended. The song came about after Robson confronted Steele with an unfinished track, to which Steele then wrote lyrics. Originally, he wanted to write about losing his father, but ultimately decided to choose a more universal theme: losing a loved one. Also available in: SATB, SAB, SSA and ShowTrax CD.
