BILLY SHEEHAN SIGNATURE SET
Billy's custom signature set using his preferred 43-110 gauges.
These strings, custom gauged by Billy Sheehan, provide the time tested, world famous, Rotosound Swing Bass set with two special advantages.
Billy says:
A slightly lighter 'G' (0.043?) this provides a more even string to string tension across the neck and makes bending easier.
A heavier 'E' string (0.110?) which again provides a more even string to string tension, eliminating string 'flap' or 'rattle' and makes for a tighter low end with increased mass for more volume in the lower register.
The (0.110?) gauge also facilitates tuning down to a low 'D' without the string bottoming out or loss of intonation.
These Billy Sheehan bass strings are manufactured from Stainless Steel wrap wire with hexagon cores
043-065-080-110 long scale
The most popular roundwound bass string ever. Rotosound was the first company to put such a string into production. After its introduction in 1962, the Swing Bass string changed the bass sound forever. It is the favorite string of many bassists, including Billy Sheehan, John Paul Jones, and Geddy Lee. The steel used for these strings is unique and the manufacturing process remains a closely guarded secret decades after its introduction.
