The composer Satoshi Yagisawa wrote this work commissioned by the Hiroshima Shinjo Junior & Senior High School in the Japanese prefecture of Hiroshima – to mark the school's centenary. The result is a beautiful piece of music in the composer's characteristically bright and lyrical style.
The first movement is written as a ceremonial fanfare, while the second movement – in the form of a chorale – is based on the school song. Since each movement can also be performed separately, this work offers various performance possibilities. The composer noted that the first movement can be played as an opening piece for a concert if desired, while the second movement could then be used as an encore.
The composition was premiered by the Hiroshima Shinjo High School Band, conducted by Yuuki Fujimoto.
