Familiar playing skills return in a slightly more advanced form and are combined with new exercises that further develop technical control and musicality.

This edition focuses on, among other things, the major scale, further refinement of finger dexterity, playing sustained voices, and applying additional accidentals. Clear phrasing and indicated fingerings support the student in developing an even, refined playing style. The structure remains clear and purposeful, without unnecessarily complicated technical exercises.

Combining and alternating staccato and legato also plays an important role again. The technical assignments are complemented by short performance pieces, including "Vroeg in de morgen," "Langs berg en dal," "In de groene weide," "De eerste lentedag," and "De Danseresjes."
