Schubert was an all-round composer. Besides his 600 Lieder, he wrote masses, symphonies and a large amount of chamber music, including quite a few string quartets. Very popular quartets are the Rosamunde Quartet and Death and the Maiden. This collection contains the following string quartets by Franz Schubert: Streichquartett G-Dur op. post. 161 D 887 (20 - 30 June 1826), Streichquartett B-Dur op. post. 168 D 112 (5 - 13 September 1814), Streichquartett g-Moll D 173 (25 March - 1 April 1815), Streichquartett D-Dur D 94 (1811 or 1812) and Streichquartett c-Moll D 703 (from December 1820).
