The well-known chorale Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland was written in 1524 by Martin Luther and is a translation of a 4th-century AD hymn. The melody was composed by Johann Walter. In the Dutch Hymnal for Churches, the chorale can be found as hymn 122 (Come to us, the world awaits). Johann Sebastian Bach used the melody as the basis for several cantatas. This arrangement by Jacob de Haan gives your orchestra the opportunity to perform a beautiful version.
