In 1942, Glenn Miller enlisted in the US Army and formed the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band. Through his music, he boosted the morale of the troops. In December 1944, he boarded a plane in England that would not reach its destination (France) – the aircraft was never found. However, the patriotic legend of his person lives on in his music. Pennsylvania 6-5000 is still one of the biggest hits of his renowned orchestra.
