The Rupert Neve Designs Master Bus Transformer (MBT) is the ultimate tool for musical coloration. It combines their renowned circuitry into a versatile processor featuring EQ, compression, stereo width control, and advanced dual Super Silk circuits with both Blue and Red modes for rich musical coloration. The Input section includes a ±12dB Input Trim with LED indicators (green at -20dBu, red above +23dB) and an adjustable 15–150Hz high-pass filter. The two-band shelf EQ offers ±9dB gain, with low band frequencies from 30–240Hz and high band from 3–24kHz, designed for minimal phase shifts.

The Color Comp section utilizes an optical design to enhance non-linear harmonic distortion, with ratios of 2:1 or 5:1, a threshold from 0–+24dBu, release times from 100ms–1.5s, and an adjustable side-chain HPF from 20–350Hz to prevent low-frequency "pumping." A Blend control allows parallel compression, while the 20dB Class-A make-up gain adjusts levels and provides additional saturation to the Super Silk transformers.

The Stereo Width section expands perceived width without affecting the low end, featuring an additive Width control, a 50–800Hz HPF to keep low frequencies centered, and subtle high-frequency attenuation to avoid harshness. Super Silk includes independent Blue and Red controls for low and high harmonics, a Harmonics control for saturation, and Zener Drive for diode-based soft clipping, which introduces aggressive odd harmonics near the headroom limit.

The MBT features balanced line-level XLR inputs/outputs, supports up to +26.8dBu input and +25.5dBu output, and includes a ground lift switch to combat ground loops.
