Towards the Future was commissioned by the Nagoya City Fire Bureau Band (Nagoya, Japan) on the occasion of the orchestra's fiftieth anniversary. The work was realized with financial support from the Nagoya City Fire Bureau. The premiere took place on February 7, 2009, conducted by Masuo Nakamura.This concert march was composed with the intention of encouraging the firefighters who repeatedly save the lives of citizens. The solemn and heartwarming melodies express courage in dangerous circumstances and dedication to the people being protected.The march is ideal for opening a concert and getting both musicians and audience in the mood.
